Hippo Point 1930’s Manor House
The magnificent Elizabethan style house is a reminder of Africa’s colonial past. Built in 1933 and carefully restored in 1998 to luxurious standards, Hippo Point House has survived to fully reflect the English romantic character.
A traditional English garden of scented roses and lush lawns provides a glorious counterpoint to the yellowish dusty tree trunks of the surrounding acacias. Whilst the resident buffalo, giraffe, hippo, zebra and gazelle wander outside the window, inside the bedrooms are a haven of comfort with soft Russian bed linen and warm wooden floors and bathtubs.
Eight double bedrooms and a single, a secluded swimming pool, and a team of dedicated staff provide the perfect base for a Life Unlimited Experience.
Dodo’s Tower
Consistently rated as one of the top retreats in the world, the eight-story ‘Dodo’s Tower’ at Hippo Point is the perfect luxury hideaway. Custom-built by Dodo Cunningham-Reid, guests enjoy breathtaking views over Oloidien Bay and have an eagle eye view of the life of the hippos, giraffe and zebra as they graze at the foot of the Tower. The beguiling sounds of the lake and the bush create a symphony of peace and tranquility, broken only by the splashing of hippos as they leave the lake and venture out into the bush under the cover of darkness.
In Dodo’s Tower there are four double rooms and one single room; a dining room, kitchen, a living room with balcony, writing room, meditation space and a top view room.
The Safari Camps
The camp in Namunyak in North Kenya has six luxury canvas and thatch twin tents, each positioned to maximise the stunning views of the Mathews Range of mountains. The tents are spacious and high ceilinged with plenty of cupboard space, electric lighting and 24 hour hot and cold running water. Each tent has its own private terrace with table and chairs and morning coffee and tea are brought to you so that you can wake up gazing out over the mountains. This camp also has an open-sided house with two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room.
