Experience Kenya
We acknowledge and take seriously current isolated security threats from Somalia’s Al Shabaab group affecting the northern Kenya coast. Our areas of operation are far from Somali border risk zones. Hippo Point is geographically in the middle of the country and our itinerary is several hundred miles from the Somali border.
We take the utmost care to ensure our guests’ security at all times, whilst travelling and in camp, working with our local partners who all have a high level of security in place. We meet guests when they arrive at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and take them directly via private plane to Hippo Point at Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley. From there we use privately chartered helicopters and planes to take guests to the camps in the Maasai Mara and north Kenya. Both venues are way off the radar of Somali risk and operate security in-house. At the end of each trip we transfer guests by private plane directly to Nairobi International Airport for their onward journeys home.
We do not take guests to the northern Kenya coast, which is currently more vulnerable to Somali activity. The recent grenade attacks in Nairobi (which killed one person) have been isolated and restricted to parts of the city where foreign visitors are unlikely to venture.
